The partners of the project titled “Supporting the resettlement of persons with intellectual disabilities from the residential institution of Demir Kapija into community-based supported living settings” KMOP, Humanost and the Municipality of Demir Kapija, successfully organised the 1st Project Steering Committee meeting which was held on the 10th of March 2020, in Skopje, in the premises of the European Union Delegation to North Macedonia.
In this meeting, the project team presented to interested stakeholders the project work packages, its foreseen results and outputs and discuss the draft work plan of the project. The invited participants in the meeting were representatives from important institutions such as the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of North Macedonia and the Director of the Special Institute of Demir Kapija.
KMOP, as the coordinator of the project, gave a brief introduction of the role and work of the Steering Committee and pointed out that it is crucial for all relevant stakeholders to be members of the Committee in order to jointly coordinate, discuss and plan activities during implementation, to achieve the best results and impact.
A presentation followed on the experience of KMOP in the management and operationalisation of Group Homes for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Greece and the European and International standards of resettlement.
A lively discussion followed among all participants on various implementation issues and modalities.
